Celebrate LIFE with Marvin, TODAY!

MARVIN GAYE, April 2nd 1939 - April 1st 1984

Can I Get A Witness? - Marvin Gaye
I'll Be Doggone - Marvin Gaye
All The Way 'Round - Marvin Gaye
You Can Leave But It's Going To Cost You - Marvin Gaye
That's The Way Love Is - Marvin Gaye
The World Is Rated X - Marvin Gaye
Trouble Man - Marvin Gaye
You - Marvin Gaye

What's Goin' On? - Les McCann
Inner City Blues - Gil-Scott Heron

On his born day, celebrate MARVIN's life and legacy by playin' his tunes. LOUD. There's so many choice cuts to choose from, I posted some of my favorite non-overplayed Marvin tunes. These tracks will get you through anything the world throws your way today. Love. Betrayal. Politics. Bigotry. Lust. Frustration.

Peep the above picture, which happens to be my favorite Marvin shot. WHAT'S GOIN' ON in that head of his? Eff those coifed, slickback pics. This shot caught the essence of Marvin.

What I loved most about the man's music was his willingness to embrace the natural hypocrisy of life. One minute he's singing that GOD IS LOVE, the next he's singing LET'S GET IT ON. Well, I'LL BE DOGGONE, ain't that life? On Monday he's singing IF I COULD BUILD MY WHOLE WORLD AROUND YOU. By Tuesday, he's changed his pitch to YOU CAN LEAVE BUT IT'S GOING TO COST YOU.

Isn't that what this great-ball-of-stress-that-we-call-the-earth is all about? Isn't that why his music still sounds fresh? Isn't that why his music still rings true today?

You are right about Marvin "embracing the natural hypocrisy of life." It is this duality that allowed him to create some the best music ever.
