YouTube, more than just the best thing since electricity.
Can the media alter your view of the people around you? Let's play a game. Push play on one of the videos below. Close your eyes. With your eyes closed, see if YOU can correctly guess the RACE of the singer/band. Is what you HEAR, what you SEE in your head? Once you've watched both videos, look below for the answers. Dude, I'm not racist, I gotta Black friend and a Mexican one too.
just tryin to point out the fallacies in our preconceived notions. chuck berry, lil richard all get their props here.....however, ask your average rock fan sbout the roots of rock and tell me who they cite......damn....i'm givin credit to the original black hard rocker phil lynott....iron maiden owes a lot of riffs to thin lizzy.
it's funny how some people don't approach race in an objective manner.More times than others, they react without thinking. It's crazy how all of us have preconceived ideas but yet we don't want to admit it to ourselves. I'm a black man myself, and I don't want to labeled, that's it... Look at Axelrod,a white man who rocked it like no one ever did,Jimi who did the Star Spangled Banner on his electric guitar. I,too, still fuck wit u Vik....hahaha
hey vik - continue keeping it tight. your blog is like no other. you put things into perspective...
i actually like this post... you are right when we think of certain songs we automatically put two and two together but at times some shit might catch us off guard.
Biochemical Slang. Hood TRUTH Soldiers. We on a mission.
Men often hate each other because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don't know each other; they don't know each other because they can not communicate; they can not communicate because they are separated.
None of us got where we are solely by pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps. We got here because somebody - a parent, a teacher, an Ivy League crony or a few nuns - bent down and helped us pick up our boots.
Some people say, "How can you live without knowing?" I do not know what they mean. I always live without knowing. That is easy. How you get to know is what I want to know.
Any real change implies the breakup of the world as one has always known it, the loss of all that gave one an identity, the end of safety. And at such a moment, unable to see and not daring to imagine what the future will now bring forth, one clings to what one knew, or dreamed that one possessed. Yet, it is only when a man is able, without bitterness or self-pity, to surrender a dream he has long cherished or a privilege he has long possessed that he is set free â he has set himself free â for higher dreams, for greater privileges.
A man once told me that you step out of your door in the morning, and you are already in trouble. The only question is are you on top of that trouble or not?
